For the Strength of Youth Challenge

We had a fun Standards Night on Tuesday and dug into the For the Strength of Youth books with our Faith Factor game . . . more pictures coming on that. At the end of the night, our Mia Maid President, Maddy, issued a challenge to everyone. We passed out pocket-size For the Strength of Youth cards and each youth is encouraged to keep it with them at all times. If leaders ask any of the youth for the card and they have it, they get a treat; if they don't have it, they owe us a treat. The leaders have the cards too . . . so test us out as well. This is going to be a fun challenge, so hold each other accountable as we text, call and check up on each other to make sure that we know and are living by the Lord's standards at all times and in all places!

Can you find where Keeley has her card?

Halloween Play

Some of the Laurel girls were so excited to go and see Jannelle's Halloween play . . . her home away from home lately. She started in character and costume as a mute mummy named Victor. By the end, The Shadow (aka DJ) had helped transform her into a beautiful princess named Victoria. Keeley, Natalie and Sister Bird had the best time and . . . and we love that little Lindon theater. Jannelle, you are awesome!!

Hair Day

Our new Mia Maid advisor, Sister Salisbury, is a cosmetologist. At a recent activity, she showed us how to do some fun up-do's with hair. We paired up and worked on each others hair and came up with some awesome new styles. It always makes you feel good to have your hair looking good.

Kynz was first up with Sister Salisbury . . . doesn't she look great!

Then the girls partnered up to work on each other. Here's Alaynah

Jayden and her beautiful red hair

And Allison. . . you all look great!

Valiant Faith

What an inspiring General Conference weekend we had with timely messages from our prophet and church leaders. Here is an awesome quote by President Monson regarding courage:

Courage to Stand

“My … plea … is that you have the courage to stand firm for truth and righteousness. Because the trend in society today is away from the values and principles the Lord has given us, you will almost certainly be called upon to defend that which you believe. Unless the roots of your testimony are firmly planted, it will be difficult for you to withstand the ridicule of those who challenge your faith. When firmly planted, your testimony of the gospel, of the Savior, and of our Heavenly Father will influence all that you do throughout your life. The adversary would like nothing better than for you to allow derisive comments and criticism of the Church to cause you to question and doubt. Your testimony, when constantly nourished, will keep you safe.”

Check out this inspiring video that goes along with the song, Valiant Faith, a song that we are going to be learning to sing in Young Women's. Thanks, Chandi for the recommendation.
